Today, Daily Kos Founder Markos Moulitsas announced the results of the organization’s latest Democratic presidential straw poll of the 2020 cycle. You can view the straw poll here and check out the full results here.
“In the wake of the drastic pre-Super Tuesday winnowing of the Democratic presidential primary field, Elizabeth Warren’s support continues to grow among the the nation’s largest online progressive community as she jumped seven points to win this week’s poll with 40%,” said Moulitsas. “The narrowing of the candidate pool has occurred in the primary’s ‘center’ lane, which is reflected in Joe Biden’s huge jump from just 8% two weeks ago to 29% today. Bernie Sanders dropped just two points to 23%, but both Warren’s and Biden’s respective bumps pushed him down to third place. Also, because Mike Bloomberg is still running for some reason, his support in the straw poll fell nine points to just 4%.
“Previous straw poll results manifested an interesting trend: Almost since we first launched the poll in January 2019, Warren and Sanders’ combined percentage of straw poll results consistently hovered around the mid-50s,” Moulitsas continued. “But the drastic shift in the Democratic primary field has resulted in that consolidated progressive support expanding to above 60%.”
